About Us: The Nikolakopoulos Family & Greek Pony Farm
Located in the village of Rodhia, Kyparissia, in Messinia, Peloponnese, the Greek Pony Farm is a family tradition spanning four generations. For the Nikolakopoulos family, the farm is more than a business; it's a way of life deeply rooted in the land.
Our Ponies: Essential Partners in Organic Farming
The farm is named "Greek Pony Farm" due to its unique herd of ponies, which are integral to the ecosystem. Alongside deer, sheep, horses, and cows, the ponies contribute to the health and cultivation of the olive groves. They graze freely, gently weeding and naturally fertilizing the ground. This contributes to cleaner plots, healthier trees, tastier fruit, higher nutritional value, high-quality extra virgin olive oil, and edible “Kalamata” olives. The ponies have become the trademark of the farm's products.
Our Terroir: A Greek Agricultural Paradise
The farm is situated in a traditional rural area, approximately 500 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountains and valleys, near the Gulf of Kyparissia. This organic farm features age-old olive trees, plots of herbs and aromatic plants, and gardens of vegetables and fruits. The well-cared-for olive groves, primarily of the «Koroneiki» and «Kalamata» varieties, coexist harmoniously with fruit trees, aromatic herbs, and vegetables. The special microclimate and soil composition of this terroir contribute to the unique character of each fruit and tree.
